Font licences

These faces ship with the app. Subsets of reserved-font-name faces are renamed.

  • Literata — OFL. OFL text
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible Next — OFL. OFL text
  • Eff Fraktur — OFL subset of UnifrakturCook, renamed because UnifrakturCook is a Reserved Font Name. OFL text
  • Eff Mono — OFL subset of IBM Plex Mono, renamed because Plex is a Reserved Font Name. OFL text
Decorated initials

The capitals A to Z are original pen-and-ink drawings made for Eff. The letter outlines are converted from Eff Fraktur, the renamed OFL subset of UnifrakturCook. UnifrakturCook is a Reserved Font Name and is not used on these drawings. The OFL notice stays with the font. A single inner contour is drawn inside the thick strokes. It is not taken from the font, and the drawings are not traced from a manuscript or a printed alphabet. The earlier F tile had no recorded source or licence, and this set does not assign one.

The ink is the same idea as the pointing hands below: a black line on a transparent ground, coloured by the interface. There is no fill and no background box, so the page shows through. The records are in CITATIONS.md in the source checkout.

The disguise guard uses the SCOWL English word list. See resources/masking/LICENSE-SCOWL.txt.

No band names, album titles, or traced artwork.

Pointing hands

The hands that point at a list, a collection, or a saved note are printer’s cuts. They are in the public domain.

Shaded index, American Type Founders, 1923. This is the hand in the lists.

Right index, Cincinnati Type Foundry, 1882. A fine line, kept as the alternate.

The citations sit with the files, in public/assets/manicules/ATTRIBUTION.md.
